Interest to GTL technologies grows as oil prices drop down.

Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership Forum started today, September 9, 2015, in Khanty-Mansiysk.  Main topic of the Forum is "Public Private Partnership as an Optimum Method for Resolution of Associated Gas Flaring Reduction Problems". Representatives of over 20 countries in the world took part in the forum. Gazohim Techno Company received an invitation and will make a presentation in the session "Latest Technologies of Associated Gas Disposal".

Reports of Alexander Novak, Energy Minister and Sergey Donskikh, Natural Resources Minister note that starting with the year 2012 there has been a growth of investments by oil companies into associated gas disposal projects. However, target indicator of 95% effective use of associated gas has not been reached.  It is expected that this parameter will be achieved by major vertically integrated oil companies not earlier than 2020, except Gazpromneft company that develops a large number of remote fields.

Data collected by Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia proves that capital expenditures on typical processing projects grow exponentially for remote fields, during development of low pressure gas and during peak gas production periods. Therefore, the problems for existing technologies emerge exactly in the niche where alternative mini-GTL™ technology by Gazohim Techno is effective.

As opposed to typical solutions implying power generation, re-injection and gas fractioning, mini-GTL™ technology allows producing synoil, or more expensive petrochemical products and fuels. Meanwhile, as shown in Gazohim Techno report at the conference, return on investments of gas monetization projects is at investment level due to lowest specific capital expenditures for mini-GTL™ units in the industry. Therefore, low oil and gas prices, and excess of gas supply at world energy markets naturally caused increase of interest in gas chemistry and, firstly, in mini-GTL™ technology.

During the last month only, Gazohim Techno received invitations and held negotiations with three major producing companies in Russia having free resources of associated gas in the volume over 3 billion m3 per annum. Oil companies got familiarized with possibilities of mini-GTL™ technology, showed vivid interest and are ready for cooperation.

Forum in Khanty-Mansiysk gathered together representatives of governments and national oil companies from Europe, Central Asia and representatives of international oil and gas companies and international finance institutes. Forums allow generalizing accumulated international experience and best practices in reduction of associated gas flaring volumes and provide an opportunity for exchange of experience and innovative technologies in the sphere of gas conditioning, processing and transportation and its rational use.

Gazohim Techno took part in the 6th International Conference “Associated Petroleum Gas – 2015”  


An appearance of General Director of Gazohim Techno Dolinskiy S. E.  at the 6th International Conference “APG – 2015” with the report “Progress in Implementation of GTL-Plants and Possibilities in the Russian Market” took place within the framework of 3rd Session with self-explanatory name “DEVELOPMENT OF GTL AND CTL TECHNOLOGY IN ROUGH ECONOMIC REALITIES”.


The delegates with interest perceived the information about the progress in construction of the first in the RF mini-GTL™ plant. Up to date, Gazohim Techno is the only company whose technologic solutions allowed to get Russian investment and start up the construction of a pilot mini-GTL™ plant for processing of up to 12 million m3 of associated gas per year into synthetic oil on one of an oil fields of the Komi Republic. Specific conditions of oil fields of North and East of the RF including complicated product transportation, oil low cost on the field and severe climatic conditions demand from GTL equipment minimum specific capital and operational expenditure to achieve economically efficient processing of gas into synthetic oil.

Gazohim Techno’s equipment and catalysts do provide the necessary for mineral resource users performance indicators. As a result, up to date Gazohim Techno has already signed Memorandums of Understanding with the leading Russian oil companies for processing of associated petroleum gas and natural gas of gas-condensate fields to produce 17,500 barrels of synthetic oil per day that is equivalent to 35 mini -GTL™ plants of total cost more than $1.4 billion.

After a successful start-up of the pilot plant in the Komi Republic Gazohim Techno plans to occupy a significant share of the Russian market of APG processing in the niche of 10-200 million m3/year. The RF market of mini-GTL™ plants is estimated at 75-150 mini-GTL™ plants with capacity of 50‑100 million m3 of APG per year that is equivalent to investment in gas processing of up to 8 billion dollars USA (500 billion rubles in current prices) during the next 15 years.

Those who took floor during the Session “DEVELOPMENT OF GTL AND CTL TECHNOLOGY IN ROUGH ECONOMIC REALITIES” supported the tendency to build in Russia and in the world mini-GTL plants instead of giant GTL and CTL plants. The economic background of changing priorities was justified by Dean Fantazzini from Moscow School of Economics. In his report «Economics in GTL and CTL Technologies. Oil Price Downturn in 2014 and Forecast for the Future” the expert pointed out that large-tonnage GTL facilities demand huge initial investment and in 70% of such cases capital expenditure appears to be higher than the planned one approximately by 3 times. In this respect, low- and medium-tonnage facilities are not only economically feasible but allow more thorough control of project costs.

"Gazohim Techno" continues to construct the first in Russia Experimental Industrial Mini-GTL™ Plant in Komi Republic.

On-site engineering survey and assessment of the environment impact was conducted. On the grounds of these data, on the 26th of March, 2015 "Gazohim Techno" and the Usinsk town Administration will hold a public discussion of the project in accordance with the law. The conference will take place at 16-00 in administration MO GO "Usinsk" (Usinsk, Lenina str., 13, kab.116), as it was published in news reports of the local, regional and federal press.

A story about "Gazohim Techno" was aired on "RUSSIA 24" TV channel.

On the 22nd of January, 2015 in the prime time "RUSSIA 24" TV channel aired a story about the mini-GTL™ technology for natural gas conversion into synthetic oil.

In the national news, Mikhail Spasennykh, Director of the Center for hydrocarbon production SKOLTECH, and Sergei Dolinskiy, General Director of “Gazohim Techno”, discussed the financially and environmentally beneficial mini-GTL™ technology for conversion of associated petroleum gas into motor fuels and high quality paraffins.
